**Senior Transport Planner, Community Shaping (Tauranga)**
- Shape Tauranga’s city and regional transport network, providing strategic transport consultancy advice addressing modal shift, city wide land use, climate change and social project considerations
- Deliver transformational transport planning projects across the transport domain, impacting all transport modes across one of New Zealand’s fastest growing cities
- Join a team that is focused on you as an individual, enabling you to bring your full self to work and shape your career to develop your transport project, consultancy, technical and leadership abilities

**Te kāinga rua | The opportunity**

Shape Tauranga and New Zealand’s future transport and modal outcomes, as a senior member of Beca’s Community Shaping business. You will be delivering strategic transport planning projects across all aspects of the transport network including supporting integrated land use planning, climate change and reliance management, mode shift, road and network safety, and business case project evaluation including economic benefit analysis.

Based in Beca’s Tauranga office, you will be working with strategic transport clients across the city and region, including councils, planners, regional councils, private clients, transport agencies, safety advocates and community groups including iwi. As a Senior Transport Planner you will be challenged to problem solve, looking for ways to assist our clients in finding a solution to their problems whether through the traditional business case approach or through a bespoke process. In Tauranga, you will be working within a tight knit team enjoying the lifestyle benefits of being in the Bay of Plenty, yet with the technical backing and career support of a nationwide team of over 80 transport consultants as well as the backing of Beca’s multi-discipline business.

You will also be motivated by challenge, being comfortable with ambiguity and the complexity of working across multiple projects, project types and client requirements. Being able to work through unknowns, to problem solve, and to adapt your and your team’s approach will be a big part of this role.

This role suits a passionate Senior Transport Planner known as a trusted advisor who listens to clients’ needs, has a deliver focus and works best in a collaborative and people focused culture. In this role, you will have plenty of scope for success with wide exposure to projects and clients, providing you with extensive career and professional development opportunities. You will have the opportunity to make this role your own as well as learning from leading Transport Planners and technical directors based with you in the Tauranga office, as well as others in our nationwide business.

**Te rongoā | About you**

Our Transport Planners in Community Shaping come from a broad range of backgrounds and professions. You could have a background in geography, anthropology, economics, as well as the more traditional engineering backgrounds however being able to write a story and interpret data is a must and you need to be ready to make a difference. Being able to take a complex situation and ‘craft’ and present advice with clarity, while balancing a broad range of stakeholder viewpoints focused on delivering a transport outcome, will be important.

You will be a people person creating the environment to express, understand and work with very different viewpoints. You will enjoy the challenge of working collaboratively with stakeholders, with the ability to guide discussions to enable project delivery. You will be calm, comfortable with ambiguity and differences, yet excited by the role you will play in working with people to shape communities through Transport Planning projects. You will be an excellent communicator, both in person and via written reports with a broad understanding of the district plan and how local government operates. You will be comfortable with ambiguity and ‘owning’ deliverables for a project, with the ability to build professional working relationships with a range of colleagues and technical experts, based remotely.

**Ko wai mātou | About Us**

You will be joining a nationwide business of passionate planners, engineers and specialists that make up Community Shaping. You will be part of a close-knit team, striding to collaboratively work with our clients to solve complex transport, modal and human movement challenges with a sustainable, culturally sensitive and pragmatic way making everyday better. We also like to have fun along the way, so a good sense of humour will hold you in good stead.
