**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
Immigration New Zealand is the operational delivery arm of the immigration system. Our core functions are:

- Ensuring that people crossing the border and staying in New Zealand are entitled to do so
- Helping refugees to make New Zealand their home
- Playing our part in the global immigration system

One of your primary responsibilities will be to interpret immigration legislation to make quality immigration decisions quickly, using your proven analytical, judgement, and well-developed decision-making abilities. As an Immigration Officer, you will be working in a high-volume and high pace environment, that can change rapidly. Previous experience in a similar environment would be beneficial along with a strong customer service background, case management, organisational skills and computer literacy.

Your strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish a positive and consultative working relationship with stakeholders will be one of the key successes to this role, and the many future career opportunities that will be available to you within INZ and MBIE.

You will be joining an innovative, dynamic and vibrant team based in our Hamilton office, which is close to the bus transport centre and with multiple parking options.

**We have a range of different working patterns available**:

- Full time hours, 6am to 6pm Monday - Friday where our people choose the hours that work for them once fully trained and competent in the role (approx. 2-3 months).
- Part time working pattern of 20 to 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Alternative working hours available between 12p.m. - 8p.m. (part-time or full-time) Monday - Friday for those that like a later start to the day.

Recent experience in a high-performance service delivery environment; including caseload management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Experience or an attraction to an administration/processing environment
- Effective time management with the ability prioritise workflow demands and case loads
- Enjoys managing multiple priorities and able to adapt to change
- A strong moral compass, and be known to ‘act with integrity' in all you undertake
- The motivation and willingness to make a positive difference as a proactive team member

Applicants must be NZ citizens or hold a Permanent Resident Visa in New Zealand.

Once you’re training and induction period is over and you are competent in your new role, MBIE offers other flexible work options.
- Work your hours in 9 days over two weeks which will allow you to enjoy a weekday off every fortnight.
- Work your full-time hours over 4 days per week, which will allow you to enjoy a long weekend every weekend.
- We provide you the equipment you need to allow you work at home (once fully trained) - but note there will still be a requirement to work in the office a few days a week.
- The office opens at 6am and closes at 6pm. You can arrive any time before 9:30am, work your hours and go home for the day. There is no requirement to start at the same time every day - great for those that need to drop-off/pick-up kids
