**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
We have an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced mental health nurse wishing to move into a leadership role within Puawai - our Midland Regional Forensic Psychiatric Service. Associate Charge Nurse Manager | Kaiwhakahaere Nēhi Utu Tuarua, is a key senior role within the team responsible for providing leadership and support to staff, taangata whaiora and whaanau, working in close collaboration with the Charge Nurse Manager.
Maaori are significantly over represented across our service and you will need to have an understanding of inequity for Maaori. Being able to work with Maaori across all levels is essential to this role, so together we can achieve better outcomes for Maaori.

Puna Taunaki is situated within the Henry Rongomau Bennett Centre and has 10 beds, Puna Whiti consists of two standalone units with 5 beds between them. All three units are aligned, sharing the same resources and have a focus on developing skills to maximise independence and social inclusion.

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:
- A ‘curiosity’ to enquire what will make a difference for an individual taangata whai ora and their whaanau, and a willingness to lead change to truly make a difference, are essential skills you hold.
- Your relationship management skills will be exceptional and you will have a proven track record of being able to bring people together to improve health outcomes and reduce Maaori inequity.
- You will be motivated to achieve great results, have the ability to make tough decisions when necessary, as well as display initiative and resourcefulness that will allow you to navigate the variety of challenges you could face.
- You will have a positive disposition where you demonstrate both energy and enthusiasm because you will understand that the key to success lies in our team operating in collaboration with one another.
