Are you passionate about empowering Māori and Pacific learners?

Wintec | Te Pūkenga is seeking a dedicated Kaiāwhina to join our Māori Pacific Trades Training (MPTT) team.

In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in developing and implementing strategies aimed at increasing attendance rates and providing essential wraparound support for our learners.

Your Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute attendance plans to boost attendance rates for Māori and Pacific learners enrolled in MPTT funded programs.
- Identify key pastoral needs hindering the progress of Māori and Pacific learners and devise tailored support plans to meet these needs effectively.
- Implement pastoral support plans responsive to the unique requirements of Māori and Pacific learners, ensuring connectivity to both internal and external support services.
- Forge relationships with external service providers to address the needs of Māori and Pacific learners where Wintec's resources may be limited.

As part of our team, you'll promote ākonga success, centering their voice in decision-making. You will provide a culturally responsive environment and build strong connections to ensure the holistic development and academic achievement of our learners is successful. Your dedication will not only prepare ākonga for the workplace but also empower them to transition smoothly to higher education or apprenticeships.

- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience working with Māori and Pacific ākonga.
- Proven experience supporting Māori and Pacific communities, particularly youth and young adult learners.
- Experience coordinating projects to completion.
- An understanding of Tikanga Māori and cultural values relevant to Māori communities, along with practical knowledge of Pacific cultural values.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, innovative problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
