In addition, the Navy Museum provides a primary place of connection between the public and the Navy. As such the Museum is critical tool for the Navy in terms of reputation, communications, public relations and recruiting.
In this role you will be responsible for the care and documentation of the Navy Museum's collections and for the administration of the RNZN's Fleet Trophy collection. You will ensure appropriate collection care, storage and movement at all times, and facilitate access to the collections, both physical and intellectual.
The role includes the supervision of Collection Assistants, as well as collection volunteers

We are seeking a person with a thorough understanding of museum registration practice including accessioning, documentation and loans. You will have several years of relevant experience in a museum or similar institution.
You will have a wide ranging knowledge of collection management practice, including the principles of preventative conservation, and an awareness of current and changing museum issues such as access, digital collecting and ethical issues.

**We are looking for experience with the following**:

- Object packing and freighting.
- Collection management databases, preferably Vernon CMS.
- Digitisation including object photography.
- Preparing and installing exhibitions and displays.
- Effectively managing staff and volunteers.
- Managing collection related projects.
