The Mason Clinic
Our vision, mission and values are inclusive; founded on a therapeutic commitment to patients, whānau and the community. Mason Clinic is a secure unit, located in Point Chevalier and provides integrated forensic mental health services to the northern region's courts, prisons and general mental health services.
We have a mix of ethnic identities and professional skill of staff. We acknowledge and respond to cultural specific needs within multi-disciplinary teams.
Taurawhiri will assess the cultural needs of Maori patients, communicate those needs to the multidisciplinary team, initiate contacts with family and arrange cultural interventions.

Maori Cultural Service - Acute Inpatient Units
Based at our Inpatient Units, in either Waitakere or North Shore Hospital, you will be closely supported by our Taurawhiri, Kaumātua and Cultural Team Leader.
The position would suit a person who is proficient in Te Reo Rangatira me ōna Tikanga, and is passionate about improving Māori health and wellbeing. Experience in mental health and addictions are desirable as is an understanding of Māori community support mechanisms. A good understanding of Māori health models and the concept of whānau ora is essential.

**He angitūtanga**: The opportunity
**The role will include**:
- Providing comprehensive cultural assessments, intervention, and recommendations for Māori Tangata Whai Ora living within RFPS Mason Clinic or at the Inpatient Units.
- Deliver Tikanga Oranga/Cultural Assessments using Te Whare Tapa model of care, where appropriate providing recommendations on appropriate Māori cultural and clinical interventions.
- To provide a holistic and indigenous Kaupapa Māori learning environment that supports traditional Māori principles and values.

To ensure service delivery and outcomes are meet you will need;
- Understanding in Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga
- Strong understanding of the importance of and meaning of Te Tiriti o Waitang
- Knowledge of Māori Health model
- Affinity to working with Māori whānau, iwi, hapu
- Proficiency in Mātauranga Maori
