The Capital & Coast District Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) provides quality specialist services, integrated with primary and secondary providers in the communities we serve.

We offer a flexible working environment, and support and promote continuing and ongoing education opportunities to support your professional development throughout your career with us. You'll also receive the standard entitlements given to workers in New Zealand, including 10 days of sick leave per year, and four weeks of annual leave.

To work in Aotearoa New Zealand you will require registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Psychologist Board of New Zealand

About the Opportunity:
Our Regional Intellectual Disability Secure Service (RIDSS) provides secure inpatient care and rehabilitation services for all adults and adolescents who have a diagnosed intellectual disability and have committed often serious offences. Our clients are usually those who have been referred to us who have been convicted or found unfit to stand trial.

We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist to provide high-quality service in the assessment and treatment of clients with an intellectual disability, behavioural needs and complex offending.

This exciting and unique opportunity as a Clinical Psychologist role with us involves:

- Working in an emotionally challenging and changing environment.

- Working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Showing patience and compassion to distressed people
- An understanding of mental health and intellectual disability in adults and youth and the impact of these issues on clients, their families and community.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- An ability to recognise and manage risk in a clinical environment.
