LIFT OPERATOR

5 days/approx. 35hrs per week

Applicants should be a competent skier/boarder, enjoy working with the public and have a tidy appearance. Working on our Lift crew you will make great friends and get to spend heaps of time out on the snow. We will rely on you to get our guest safely up the mountain every time.

Key responsibilities:

- Assist all passengers in the safe loading and unloading of the ski lift.
- Provide instruction and superior customer service by interacting and talking to all lift passengers.
- Slow chairs to ensure the comfort and safety of passengers loading and unloading the lift.
- Slow or stop the lift as necessary to ensure passenger safety.
- Maintain load and unload ramps and areas around all lift stations by shovelling and/or raking snow.
- Ensure all chairs are clear of snow, ice, and/or grease before loading passengers.
- Identify potential hazards and report them immediately.
- Be familiar with all policies, procedures and rules regarding operating and riding a ski lift and ensure that these are followed by other staff and customers.
- Implement emergency procedures, including contacting Ski Patrol.
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections and post-operation shutdown procedures.
- Ticket scanning at lifts at base area (Upon request/in cooperation with the ticket office staff)
- Answer guest questions by being familiar with Porters layout, products and services, or by asking someone who can answer the guest’s questions.
- Maintain cleanliness of lift shacks and work area, remove trash when necessary.
- Other mountain operations duties as assigned.

Health & Safety:

- Demonstrates awareness of the ‘Health and Safety in the Workplace Act 2015’
- Adheres to all company procedures and policy in respect to Health and Safety.
- Actively promotes a culture of safety within the workplace.

A little about you:

- Must be physically capable of assisting customers while loading lifts, monitoring the unloading of lifts, shovelling snow, grooming load/unload ramps, making quick decisions, and assisting with lift maintenance if needed.
- Must be able to work in cold and often inclement conditions.
- No current physical limitations.
- Must work well with others and interact genuinely with guests.
- Job may require long periods of time standing outside
- confident skier or snowboarder

As rates of busyness fluctuate from department to department, on any one day you could be asked by management to work outside of your given job description, so a flexible attitude to helping your fellow team members where possible is essential to every position. Management will not abuse this by requesting your assistance outside of your physical ability or your job training level.

**Pay Rates****:
Pay rates start from $22.70 per hour but of course this varies depending on position and experience. Hours of work and length of employment can vary with weather and snow conditions. We only employ people who can make a commitment for the entire season. During the peak season most full-time employees can expect to work 5-6 days per week and 35-40 hours.

**Accommodation****:
We can assist Team with finding accommodation in the Springfield area, though all employees are responsible for finding their own accommodation for the season unless otherwise specified by Porters Team. Transport from Springfield to and from the ski area is provided.
