**About the role**

The Central District Intelligence Unit supports NZ Police leaders and officers to prevent crime and harm through exceptional policing. Intelligence is used to inform deployment of resources, understand the criminal environment and crime problems, and facilitate evidence-based action and prevention.

We are looking to recruit two Analysts to join the team based in Palmerston North. This could include the appointment of an applicant at a Senior Analyst level.

One of the positions is with our Offender Prevention Response Team. This team is specifically committed to frontline policing safety & wellness, using a sound knowledge of all systems that affect day to day deployment on the frontline of NZ Police. Contributing to and working with a team enabling enhanced NZP frontline safety and to better serve our communities.

The other position is within the larger Central District Intelligence Team. As an Analyst you will consult a range of information sources, use analytical tools and techniques to understand complex policing problems, and develop compelling advice to inform prevention and enforcement. As required, you will provide Analytical Support to serious crime across the district. You will start/continue your journey of learning and development as a skilled Intelligence Professional.

As a Senior Analyst, as well as demonstrating best practice intelligence tradecraft and principles, you will play a key role in the coaching and development of others, and foster a positive and productive team culture.

These positions would be ideal for analysts wanting the opportunity to broaden their range/experience or take the next step in their career, or someone new to or taking the next step in NZ Police Intelligence and would like to learn and develop under the guidance of an experienced analytical team.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Proactively identify and analyse emerging or escalating trends in crime, crash and community reassurance proposing potential solutions
- Collaborate on projects and group analysis
- Contribute to core intelligence reporting and deliverables of the Unit
- Develop and maintain a wide range of professional relationships
- Take ownership of work through to the delivery of expected outcomes
- Great written and verbal communication skills
- A committed and positive attitude towards teamwork and professional development
- (Senior Analyst) Regular peer review and project coaching
- (Senior Analyst) Leading development of people, products, and processes

**Key Accountabilities: (TRM)**
- Identify, assess and prioritise Staff Safety Persons of Interest (high risk offenders).
- Contribute to high-risk offender management, and the related tasking and coordination process.
- Provide tactical intelligence to support emergency frontline deployment, including Offender Prevention Teams - tactical (OPTt), Special Tactics Group (STG) and Armed Offenders Squad (AOS).
- Support and enable OPTt’s and other tactical teams, particularly via support to pre-planned, high-risk warrants.
- Contribute to the development of the intelligence function to support the TRM, specifically Tactical Intelligence processes and outputs.

If shortlisted for an Analyst role, you will be required to submit a short, written work sample.

If shortlisted for a Senior Analyst role, you will be required to submit a portfolio of work to be assessed prior to interview.
