We are a court of record. Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 (our Act) recognises the significance of Māori land as a taonga tuku iho of special significance to the Māori people. Our role is to provide a court service for owners of Māori land, their whānau and their hapū which promotes the retention and use of Māori land; and facilitates the occupation, development, and use of that land.

The record held by **Te Kooti Whenua Māori is **taonga tuku iho and the **Court is the guardian of the whakapapa of the land, which is the people.**

**Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity**

We have a vacancy for a Pae Whakatere | Service Manager based in our Taitokerau Māori Land Court office in Whangarei.

The primary focus of our Pae Whakatere is to coach and support employees to increase capability and build a culture of high performance. The role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of services to improve operational quality and consistency across the team and wider Regional Service Delivery group.

You will lead a strong accountability culture which recognises the importance of coaching and growing people; and you will create a culture that drives a high level of performance; focussing on the customer, accountability, continuous improvement, standardisation, and employee engagement.

**He pūkenga tou | Skills and Experience**

To be successful in the role you will have:

- General knowledge of, and respect for, tikanga Māori and a commitment to further develop your knowledge of Te Reo Māori
- Operational management experience
- Experience in managing and developing the capability of employees
- Proven leadership skills to motivate and lead employees to achieve stretch targets and understand their contribution to the bigger picture
- Positive track record in supporting and implementing changes to business and work processes
- Experience in using a digital workflow system to process work

As part of the Māori Land Courts leadership cohort, you will work alongside well-established, experienced, and vibrant leadership teams nationally, while based and working with a smaller, local team. You'll be flexible, calm, resilient and able to comfortably operate within the court and wider external environments.

The ability to travel and occasionally support wider regional and national programmes is essential. A full New Zealand driver's licence is required.
