We are looking for an experienced professional with a background in social, health and community, who understands and will advocate for equity for our Tai Tokerau population, engaging with all diverse communities, and groups at risk of poorer health outcomes with a key focus on Māori.

**About Mahitahi Hauora**

Mahitahi Hauora is a primary health entity underpinned by Ti Tiriti o Waitangi, our Kaupapa includes ensuring whanau and communities are able to achieve self-determined wellbeing, access to the services they determine they need, and to live a long and healthy life. We work collaboratively with community, primary healthcare providers and key partners to support general practices, Māori health providers and social sector agencies, in achieving better health outcomes for our Tai Tokerau population.

**The Position**

The Equity Leader position is responsible for providing governance, leadership, advocacy and expertise to support improvements in health equity and resilience of the Tai Tokerau population. This role will engage with diverse communities such as those living with disabilities, rainbow communities, refugees and groups which are systematically at risk of poorer health outcomes with a particular focus on Māori.

As our Equity Leader you will be comfortable and experienced in building strong relationships and will work alongside our CEO supporting collaboration and optimisation of partner relationships and opportunities.

**We are looking for someone who is experienced in community, social, and or the health sector, who has the following**:

- Experience in providing cultural leadership and guidance in tikanga me te reo Māori
- A clear understanding of equity across diverse community groups, and disability sector
- Experience in working with community groups and individuals of all ethnicities, age groups and social status
- Experience in providing leadership and guidance across social and health sectors in improving equity, health and social outcomes for individuals and whanau
- Ability to advocate at a local, regional and national level and to lead a health system response to equity for Tai Tokerau

This is a diverse leadership role that will see you reporting to the Chief Executive developing and implementing an equity strategy and framework for Mahitahi Hauora to support improved health outcomes for the Tai Tokerau population particularly for Māori.

**To be considered for this position you must have**:

- A tertiary level qualification in social, health, or equivalent of 3 years minimum experience or training in social, business or health management.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role
- Demonstrable experience and competency in developing and implementing strategy and frameworks that achieve desired outcomes
- Te Ao Māori fluency
- Proven interpersonal skills in developing constructive stakeholder relationships
- Demonstrable passion for Māori health and Whanau wellbeing and evidence of involvement in Māori communities and networks
- Passion for equity for marginalised and minority groups

You must have a current NZ work visa and the legal right to work in NZ.
