Our legal team support all areas of Z’s business and ensures that enterprise legal risks are appropriately managed. We enable and empower Z’s business outcomes within the law and protect Z’s licence to operate and keep our people safe.

One of our team is heading off on their parental leave journey so we are seeking a Rōia Legal Counsel to join us for a parental leave contract - ideally starting 2 Sept 2024 to 31 Oct 2025.

As our Rōia Legal Counsel you will enable the effective and integrated delivery of legal services to Z and to ensure enterprise legal risks are appropriately managed across the business to support Z’s strategy and ultimate delivery of our extraordinary outcomes.

**You will have the opportunity to**
- Deliver legal advice and support which is commercial, clear, pragmatic and fit for purpose across all investment streams
- Identify risks and opportunities, working with stakeholders to support advocacy for Z
- Participate in and guide squads as legal support for key strategic outcomes, including leading a squad focused on regulatory matters
- Identify and manage regulatory change that may affect the Z business and support associated advocacy to the regulator
- Liaise with and develop strong relationships with regulatory bodies as required
- Provide advice on privacy/cyber security
- Build knowledge and capability across the business including written and verbal training, ‘how to’ guides, templates and other tools for self help
- Assist flexibly inside the legal team across individual portfolios
- Be part of the broader Ampol group and a valued member of the Z legal whānau

**Qualifications**:
**What you’ll bring to Z**
- An admitted Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand with 5+ years PQE
- Generalist experience, you may have worked across commercial, competition, company, privacy, energy, property and/or consumer law
- The ability to build strong relationships across the business and communicate legal advice to a wide variety of stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience of adding value, finding innovative ways to make things better and improving the process of giving and receiving advice
- Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial arrangements and operating in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
- Experience working on regulatory change, compliance and associated interactions with regulators, and providing advice in high compliance industries

The base salary range for this role is $129,200 to $152,000 per annum, we also offer a 5% KiwiSaver employer contribution.
