**The role**:
As we continue to explore new opportunities, possibilities and grow our capability, we are looking for a skilled and experienced Communications System Architect who is responsible for designing, developing and implementing communications systems that are efficient, effective and user-friendly, including Orion SCADA and voice radio networks.

You will form strong relationships with our highly skilled engineers and collaboration across the business and industry is a key part of the position.

**A little more about the role**:

- Design, commission and provide support for the day-to-day operation of Orion’s radio network
- Manage external relationships with suppliers and partners to develop communication sites and routes
- Investigate and research the use of new equipment and technology solutions
- Maintain telecommunications data links and Orion’s IoT cellular network and the optimisation of equipment lifecycles
- Manage technical negotiations with manufacturers and suppliers for the supply of communications equipment

**A little more about you**:

- Level 6 NZCE/NZDE qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience
- A strong understanding of radio frequency field exposure and NZ standards
- Previous work experience in the electricity distribution industry
- Natural leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and connect with others to challenge the way we think at Orion
- A creative, collaborative, challenging and intuitive approach to your work
- Confidence with making decisions now for an unknown future with strong research skills
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to convey complex information in a range of simplified forms
