Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Te Matau a Māui, Hawke’s Bay is the largest employer in the region with approximately 3,500 employees and they are looking to add one more as a Safe Handling Advisor. This position is based on 56 hours per fortnight or this position could be carried out on a job share basis and flexible hours are available for the right applicant(s)
As the Safe Handling Advisor, you will play a vital role in advising and supporting staff with the implementation and maintenance of quality standards across the organisation, resolving patient experience concerns, facilitate investigations of incidents and adverse events and much more.
We are looking for someone who relates well to people, is able to build rapport and communicates in a compassionate manner. You will enjoy having constructive and effective relationships with the ability to use diplomacy and tact and defuse even high-tension situations comfortably.
You will have previous experience in a health-related field and knowledge of clinical and non-clinical quality and risk management related issues; ideally you will hold a relevant qualification, preferably Bachelor of Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy (or equivalent) however a qualification in manual handling / ergonomic profession may be sufficient
To be successful in this role you will have:
- An understanding and respect of Kaupapa Māori
- Able to communicate effectively with all team members, staff and members of the general public
- Understanding of professional standards and legislation relevant to role e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act
- Effective time management/prioritisation/self-management
- Professional proven report writing skills
