**About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga**:
We are looking for someone who brings both passion and practical experience to this hands-on role. Your background in horticulture or similar field work has given you a solid foundation in nursery operations, and you're comfortable getting your hands dirty while operating various machinery including tractors and quad bikes. Safety is second nature to you, and you will either hold or be willing to obtain certifications like the Grow Safe - Approved Handler Certificate. What sets you apart is your practical problem-solving ability and keen eye for detail, combined with your collaborative spirit that makes you a valuable team member.

You thrive in an outdoor environment and understand the physical nature of nursery work. Most importantly, you share our commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable land management practices.

The role is based in Napier at HBRC Poplar and Willow Pole and it is a fixed term opportunity until 30 June 2027.

**About you | E pā ana ki a koe**:
Join Hawke's Bay Regional Council's specialist nursery team, where you will play a vital role in our soil conservation efforts. Working primarily with poplars and willows, you'll be involved in every aspect of nursery production - from propagation and planting to irrigation and pest control.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- You're passionate about horticulture and environmental conservation
- You have hands-on experience with nursery operations or similar horticultural work
- You're comfortable operating machinery including tractors, quad bikes, and chainsaw equipment
- You hold (or are willing to obtain) relevant certifications including Grow Safe - Approved Handler Certificate
- You're a practical problem-solver with strong attention to detail
- You work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- You bring a safety-first mindset to everything you do
- You're physically capable and enjoy working outdoors in various weather conditions
