We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic community nurse, wishing to join this friendly, experienced and professional team. We are looking for a nurse to work up to 0.8 FTE with the ability to work additional FTE if the opportunity arises.
This is an exciting and dynamic job where the successful applicant will support patients and their whanau in the community, during their anticancer treatments. The main focus of the role is to optimise patient quality of life and safety during treatment. This involves elements of
- Palliative care
- Symptom management
- Central line cares
- Anticancer treatment patient educationThis involves working collaboratively with the wider WBCC team as well as community and hospice teams. While managing a patient case load within the wider community cancer nurse team.

The Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre in New Zealand's capital city is increasingly recognised as a centre of excellence in the provision of specialist care to people with cancer and haematological disorders.
The primary focus for this position is the community. Experience with Oncology and Haematology nursing is essential. You will be required to work autonomously within a team framework. Skills sought are previous experience with, central lines, cytotoxic drugs and monoclonal antibodies. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills to liaise with the MDT, be capable of providing education to a patient receiving chemotherapy, understand the side effects associated with chemotherapy, have excellent clinical assessment skills, critical thinking and work with the patient and their families to manage symptoms in the home.
All RN staff employed are required to complete the regional certification for chemotherapy administration using the eviQ ADAC antineoplastic modules. All new staff will be encouraged to progress on the PDRP within the first 12 months. We have a great team culture and the Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre has an on-going quality improvement program called the Ambulatory Model of Care that has 4 work streams:

- Better scheduling of patients therefore better patient experience
- Supportive care nearer to DHB of domicile
- Development of outreach services
- Development of Acute Oncology Services
- Chemotherapy education of patients and their whanau
- Assessment of patients within the community setting; assessment of chemotherapy/immunotherapy side effects, assessment of acute symptoms
- Liaise with various members of patients - medical teams and MDT to access required care based on needs/symptoms
- Chemotherapy delivery/handling of chemotherapy, for example removal of chemotherapy infuser
- Management of central lines including blood taking, routine cares and trouble shootingMoū - About you
- 2 years - experience in oncology and/or haematology
- NZ nursing registration
- Experience of working in the community is not essential but preferred.
- Knowledge of chemotherapy/immunotherapy, risks and side effects, symptom management
- Experience in the management of central lines
