Whangarei, New Zealand Mahitahi Hauora Full time

**Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP)**

**Join the Primary Health team and relaxed lifestyle in the beautiful Hokianga.**

**1.0FTE or Possible job share.**

This position is situated within Hauora Hokianga and is physically located in the Rawene GP Clinic. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference working with a diverse population in a rural setting. While located in the Rawene GP clinic, you will provide services to all clinics within the Hokianga region that are supported by Hauora Hokianga.

We are seeking an innovative and proactive clinician, with experience as a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) or Mental Health clinician providing brief interventions, who wants to be part of a programme and team that works to support the wellbeing of whanau.

We are looking for an experienced clinician to provide behavioural health services in the Rawene GP clinic, and work alongside the Health Coaches as part of the Te Tumu Waiora model of care. Health Coaches work both in the Rawene clinic and across satellite clinics, and the HIP is required to support these rural areas with virtual clinics where necessary.

As a HIP clinician you will work as an integrated member of the Rawene GP practice team, and provide immediately accessible, evidence-based brief interventions to individuals and their whanau to assist in improving their emotional health, physical health and overall wellbeing. You will also be working alongside a Health Coach to deliver evidence-based group programmes, provide consultation, education and advice to the members of the practice team and support local population health by developing intervention pathways.

This role is based on the Behavioural Health Consultancy (BHC) model, which has been piloted and developed for the New Zealand setting. As a HIP you will be supported by specialist training, which has been specifically developed to support the Healthcare Teams working in the Te Tumu Waiora model. Our HIP's also provide peer support to each other, interact regularly through team meetings and Line Manager support.

**We are seeking someone who has**:

- A flexible adaptable approach to a new way of working
- A current New Zealand registration under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA) and full registration with your professional association e.g., Psychology, Psychotherapy, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapy, or Social Work, or a full member of NZ Association of Counsellors and accredited by the NZAC to work within the mental health and addictions services scope of practice.
- Professional experience in their registered field, minimum 2 years
- Clinical experience working in mental health and addiction environments (primary or secondary) providing evidence-based brief interventions such as ACT, FACT or CBT.
- A current unencumbered full NZ driver's licence
- Excellent computer and literacy skills including MS Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be fully vaccinated for COVID

You must have the right to work in NZ and/or have a current NZ work visa.

The successful applicant will be required to attend training for this role unless already an endorsed HIP.
