The Government Communications Security Bureau is seeking a Cryptanalyst for the Cryptanalysis Research Team. Our focus is niche topics of relevance to the New Zealand Intelligence Community in support of long-term interests for the New Zealand Government.
We are primarily responsible for the design and implementation of sensitive techniques that help maximise the utility of data. We conduct research enabling us to reveal intelligence to enhance security and well-being of all New Zealanders. Engagement with our domestic and international intelligence partners is an important part of this role. There are opportunities for short and longer term international travel and training.

We are looking for someone with a passion for mathematics and computer science, with either proven research results or a strong foundation and aptitude for such research. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technically complex material to a wide range of audiences.
- Collaborative problem-solving and crypto-mathematics research
- Cryptanalysis, network and protocol analysis
- Publishing and presenting research at a variety of forums
- Scripting and software development, including parallel programming and GPU-based development
