What you will work on
- You will take ownership of our cloud infrastructure (Primarily Google Cloud Platform), ensuring the engineering team has access to reliable, highly-available clusters for a range of workload types.
- Management of our Kubernetes clusters, including cluster/node upgrades, project resource definitions, and any supporting documentation required to allow team leads to deploy code via CI/CD pipelines.
- Working with team leads to ensure upcoming projects meet infrastructure capabilities.
- Proactively finding and exploring better ways to improve and streamline the DevOps lifecycle, including CI/CD pipelines, GitOps processes, and deployment automation.
- Being an advocate for cloud technology in the business, staying up to date with the latest tools, platform and concepts and how these can be incorporated into the technology stack.

What you would need to know
- Strong understanding and proven knowledge of Google Cloud Platform. (You will need to be able to obtain an 'Associate Cloud Engineer' Google Cloud certification).
- Intimate knowledge of Kubernetes or equivalent orchestration tools.
- Experience with the GitHub ecosystem, primarily GitHub Actions.
- Ability to create and maintain quality Docker images.
- Networking Skills: VPCs, Security Groups, DNS, DHCP, IP, Firewall, Switching, Routing, Load-Balancing, etc.

About you
- Proven track record of designing and supporting highly available, large web systems.
- You're an expert at problem solving with the ability to work independently and plan your own solutions to problems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- English as a working language.
- You're keen to learn more about new technologies and the inner workings of the international payments industry.

Nice to haves
- Database administration, including scheme management and migrations.
- Experience with logging pipelines, including log-based alerts.
- Experience with Git, and Continuous Integration tools.
- Experience in other programming languages such as Node/Javascript, PHP, Ruby, and Go.
