The Safety Advisor is responsible for supporting RNZAF Base Whenuapai in all workplace safety related matters, and advising on the day-to-day implementation of the workplace safety component of the NZDF Safety Management System and Service specific safety requirements.
The purpose is to maximise operational effectiveness whilst ensuring legislative compliance through advocating for best practice.
As the Safety Advisor, you will also be responsible for the following:

- Actively promoting a proactive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.
- Assisting units to identify and evaluate hazards, and to control risks, including using appropriateinformation management systems.
- Recommending, developing, and implementing policy, strategies, and procedures necessary for health and safety legislative compliance across workplaces.
- Conducting regular safety education programmes in liaison with the Directorate of Safety, Single Services and Portfolios in support of wider NZDF policy.

**You will possess bring the following qualities**:

- A thorough working knowledge of all relevant occupational health and safety legislation, including hazardous substances.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate confidently and professionally with a wide range of people including senor leaders and managers.

You need to have a Class 1 Full Driver's Licence.
