Auckland City, New Zealand Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Full time

**Clinical or Counselling Psychologist - CADS Pregnancy and Parental Service**
Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) Auckland is looking for a part-time (0.8 FTE) Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work in our Pregnancy and Parental Service (PPS). The role is based at Pitman House in Point Chevalier.

**About us**

The Pregnancy and Parenting Service (PPS) is a mobile, outreach service for people who are:

- Pregnant and/or a parent of children under 3 years of age
- are experiencing problems related to alcohol or other drug use and
- poorly connected to health and/or social services and have complex psychosocial needs

PPS is a multidisciplinary team, consisting of nurses, AOD clinicians, social workers, midwives, psychologists, and a psychiatrist. You would be working in a well-supported team where you will develop expertise specific to women struggling with the above issues as well as their children and their families.

This is an opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions to address the needs of parents and strengthen the family environment utilising client led strength-based goal planning.

You will be working alongside another psychologist and providing psychological assessment and interventions. You will also be providing consultation to the PPS team and ensuring best practice and growth of the service. You will be connected to a wider team of CADS psychologists, and contribute to service improvement and workforce development. There will also be opportunities to continue to develop this role in a way that suits your professional interests and expertise.

The clinical role involves home-visiting clients, providing access to a psychologist for those in our community who may not otherwise be able to engage in therapeutic intervention due to complex social difficulties (including lack of childcare and transport). Psychological interventions complement the work of the rest of the PPS team, who utilise strength-based goal planning, assertive outreach, advocacy, service co-ordination, risk management and harm minimisation, to promote the total wellbeing and recovery of our clients.

**Essential**

A sense of social justice and enjoying working with people in all their complexity is required. You will have a non-judgemental attitude, excellent engagement and communication skills, and an ability to work autonomously within a team. You will also have:

- Full registration with The New Zealand Psychologists Board
- Membership of a Professional Association (e.g. NZPsS, or NZCCP).
- Full, clean drivers licence
- Legal right to work in NZ
- Ability to implement Te Tiriti O Waitangi in your daily work

**Preferred**
- Clinical experience in addictions, mental health, or similar
- Experience with trauma-informed care
- Comfortable working with other health and social service providers including Family Start, Oranga Tamariki, Kainga Ora, and other community based NGO’s
- Lived experience as a consumer or whanau member
- Experience in group facilitation

**Benefits**
- Working for a regional service in the country’s largest districts provides more opportunities for professional development and career progression
- 10 days sick leave and 4 weeks annual leave
- Competitive salary, paid professional registration and paid professional body membership as per Te Whatu Ora/APEX collective agreement
- Under the APEX collective agreement, Waitematā psychologists receive up to $4500 each per year for Continuing Professional Development which can be accumulated over two years to $9000.
- Regular supervision and training
