**Laboratory Analyst - Afternoon Shift**
**Monday to Friday 2:00pm to 10:30pm**
Based in Ashburton, Midlands Apiaries pride themselves on processing and exporting the world’s finest honey. We are seeking a Laboratory Analyst to join our Technical team, reporting to the Technical Manager, the primary purpose of this role is to provide afternoon shift laboratory support in Honey Testing with regard to the manufacturing process - product quality and product grading. The Laboratory Analyst will carry out sampling, testing, recording and analysing. The role includes using equipment and techniques such as: APC & yeast and moulds tests, sensory testing, colour, moisture, microscopy, conductivity, diastase, HPLC.
In addition the role will also have a Compliance/QA scope, as all team members are cross trained across the Technical Department (Laboratory & Compliance). This could include QA checks, internal audits, document reviews, training of production staff, Root Cause Analysis, label checks, completing/reviewing specifications, review of OMARS. Familiarity in any of these areas would be an advantage as would previous experience in HACCP.
**Key responsibilities include;**
- Assist in the sampling and testing work for Midlands Apiaries, to ensure the advancement and development of product compliance.
- Help validate methods, and create and trend control samples.
- To maintain accurate records for a variety of monitoring, compliance, operational and reporting purposes.
- To complete testing as directed and be trained and competent on all tests available in house
- To prepare samples for testing
- Data entry of test results into CoA
- Organise stored samples
- Support Compliance team when required
- Root Cause Analysis of issues within the laboratory or the wider MAL team
- Assist in quality and compliance training of production staff.
- Ensure the compliance and quality of labelling for raw materials and finished goods.
- Monitor the pest control across the RMP and record and communicate the information to key personnel.
- Be a team player.
