Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity
The modern Māori Land Court and Māori Appellate Court are enduring courts of record continued under Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993.
This legislative framework recognises that whenua is a taonga tuku iho of special significance to Māori, and for that reason, it is the primary objective of both Courts to promote and assist in the retention of Māori land in the hands of its owners and for the effective use, management and development of that land by its owners.

He pūkenga tou/Skills and Experience

**To be successful in the role you will have**:

- An understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Abilty to learn independently through available tools and information
- Strong demonstrable research skills
- An understanding of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 and related legislation
- A can-do attitude with a strong customer focus
- Good attention to detail and quality
- A high level of integrity and confidentiality
- A good general knowledge of, and respect for, tikanga Māori and a commitment to further develop your knowledge or Te Reo Māori

You will work within a well-established, experienced and vibrant team alongside technical experts and you'll be flexible, calm, resilient and in no way daunted by the court environment.

Utu ā-tau/Salary

**Salary Range**: The appointing salary for this role will be between $52,729 and $74,441 based on skills and experience.
