This role will be working with students who have approved Special Conditions. These are students who have a temporary or permanent disability or condition that affects their ability to sit exams under the prescribed conditions. Special Conditions may include accommodations such as extra time, rest breaks, use of a computer, single rooms or rooms with fewer students, or use of an amanuensis (a staff member who writes or types where the student is unable to do so).

You will be responsible for supervising and ensuring compliance during exam sessions and play an integral role in assisting students during a particularly stressful part of their studies. You act sensitively to relate to students who may have additional needs or challenges (e.g. physical disability, mental health needs, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, hearing or vision impairments, etc). You will hold integrity in high regard, pay close attention to detail and be able to remain vigilant for prolonged periods. You will be able to adapt to mixed modes of exam delivery, as online invigilation may be required.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Setting up the exam room by placing exam papers, stationery, and equipment at desks in accordance with procedures and spacing requirements.
- Implementing exam rules and regulations and remaining vigilant throughout the exam, monitoring student behaviour.
- Assisting before, during and after the exam by directing students to their seats, advising them about possessions permitted in the exam room, and handling queries raised.
- Supervising carefully, making sure that students do not communicate with one another during the exam, and responding to any irregularities immediately.
- Checking attendance during exams and recording details of late arrivals.
- Detecting any unauthorized materials inside the exam room and ensuring that academic integrity is upheld at all times.
- Delivering and collecting exam scripts carefully at the start and end of the exam in accordance with procedures.
- Be able to switch from on campus to an online invigilation setting as required.
- You will need to be available ad hoc for exams. Must be available for in-person or online training prior to the exam period.

**You may be responsible for**:

- Acting as an amanuensis (reader/writer) for students who require this support. This will be a one on one role.
- Supervising students via a Zoom room (if exams are required to move online).
- When online, setting up a Zoom room for yourself and the student, making contact prior to the exam and conducting a test run to ensure everything works correctly.

**Qualifications**:
**You will need the ability to**:

- Act in a sensitive manner to relate to students who may have additional needs or challenges (e.g. physical disability, mental health needs, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, hearing or vision impairments, etc)
- Remain calm under pressure and find solutions to problems that may arise unexpectedly
- Follow written and oral instructions
- Give clear and concise instructions
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Keep information confidential
- Count and collate quickly and accurately
- Maintain accurate records
- Lift and move heavy boxes
- Have access to a reliable internet connection and computer with a webcam and microphone (for online exams)

**Additional Information**:
Students currently studying at Bachelor level are unfortunately not suitable for this role, due to a conflict of interest.
