Te Mahi/About the Position

We have an exciting opportunity for two individuals to join Nurse Maude on our journey, in a permanent full-time capacity, as we set up and operationalise a custom-designed simulation assessment centre, opening in June 2024 in central Christchurch.

Nurse Maude is a well-known and highly regarded organisation, who have been providing healthcare services to the community for over 120 years. Nurse Maude has been recently contracted by the New Zealand Nursing Council to administer Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), as part of the registration process for internationally qualified nurses.

The Simulation technicians will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the simulation centre, providing technical support and assistance to deliver simulation-based assessments.

Key aspects of the role include:

- Working as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Providing technical assistance in the set-up, calibration, inspection, maintenance and operation of simulation centre equipment.
- Adhering to the scheduled maintenance program of simulated equipment
- Undertaking asset and equipment inspections, investigations and reviews
- Coordinating Assessment Support Officers (Simulated Patients) and audio-visual equipment in examination sessions.
- Monitor the database system to ensure adequate infrastructure and stock levels to allow continuous delivery of service
- Ensuring all OSCE stations are consistently set up for examination sessions.
- Undertaking a range of manual tasks within the centre.
- Liaising with external stakeholders to resolve complex technical problems
- optimising system performance, trouble shooting, preparing testing and running all OSCE's in the centre

To be successful in this role you will have:

- An ability to think creatively with a growth mind-set
- Willingness to engage in any training and development
- A proven ability to adhere to protocols, standards and guidelines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and experience with audio/visual equipment
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
- Experience and success working under pressure, while solving problems quickly

The following criteria is preferred, but not essential, as full training will be provided:

- Experience working with simulation-based technologies, including manikins, simulation centre software and hardware solutions
- Experience working in the health sector
- A tertiary qualification in health, information technology or a related area
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and on the job training.
