**The Opportunity**
This is an exciting new opportunity for someone who has experience in health promotion, primary health or public health to join the Te Whatu Ora Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua - MidCentral, National Bowel Screening Programme (NBSP) team. This screening programme is for eligible people aged 60 to 74 with no bowel symptoms. The MidCentral NBSP covers the MidCentral district of Palmerston North, Manawatū, Tararua, Horowhenua and Ōtaki.
The Role of the Health Promoter in Bowel Screening is to support the increased participation and reduction of inequities in coverage for priority people, (who are Māori, Pasifika, and live within Deprivation nine and ten in the MidCentral region) with a focus on eligible Māori and their whānau and Pasifika people.
To do this role they will work the MidCentral NBSP team to build and maintain effective relationships with the Iwi and Māori health providers in the MidCentral region and the THINK Hauora Pasifika Health Service to help support a high-quality bowel screening service. This will include completing a co-ordinated agreed programme of promotion, engagement, participation and retention of eligible Māori and Pasifika into the NBSP programme.
This role is part of the Bowel Screening multidisciplinary team and will be supported by Te Uru Mātai Matengau (Cancer, Screening, Treatment and Support Cluster) and Pae Ora Paiaka Whaiora (Māori Health Directorate). The role will be based at Breast Screening Coast to Coast (BSCC).
The role is (0.5 FTE). The hours will be flexible, between Monday to Friday with some weekend work required. Travel within MidCentral District rohe is required (overnight visits are possible but unlikely).
