**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role/**Moū - About you**
As a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist you will be required to provide excellent services and supervise the care and management of acute and non-acute women allocated to you within a multidisciplinary team environment with an on call component.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person with the willingness to improve the women - s health in the Hutt Valley to join an establish team of SMOs. You should be willing to take a lead in quality improvement, work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, a good teacher and have an interest in process improvement..
Have a proven track record in providing advanced antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care and also the ability to manage acute gynaecology presentations is essential. Special interest in the management in diabetes in pregnancy is welcome although not essential.
You should be able to provide consistently high standards of medical care and have relevant experience and training. RANZCOG Advance Training Modules (ATM) or similar international qualification in advanced antenatal care, Fertility or other ATM that may compliment the skill mix of the current SMO staff is desirable.
Applicants must be registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
It is expected there will be an after hour (16:00 - 08:00) on call commitment. With this new position, the expected on call frequency is 1:10

Hutt Hospital is located in Lower Hutt City, 20 minutes by road from Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. There is opportunity for most recreational pursuits, sporting and cultural activities.
Hutt Hospital is a busy 260 bed facility providing secondary services for Lower and Upper Hutt cities. It provides regional Plastics, Oral Maxillofacial and Rheumatology services. There are 8000+ operative procedures per year in General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Gynaecology, Dental, Plastics, reconstruction and OMF. There are 1800 deliveries annually in the Obstetric Unit. There are 600 admissions to the ICU each year.
The Women - s Health service provides high quality and safe care as experienced by women, babies and their whānau of the Hutt Valley. We have a dedicated and enthusiastic team of 9 full and part-time Obstetricians and Gynaecologists who enable a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach to service provision, including the voice of consumers at all levels of service planning. We provide and participate in educational and service audit activities and reflect the values of the Te Whatu Ora including that of open disclosure.
Hutt Hospital is also a teaching hospital with 5th year medical students and Trainee Interns (TIs) from the University of Otago rotating through the Women - s Health service. We supervise, and are accredited for Obstetrics and Gynaecology training through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
