**He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role**
We are currently seeking a dynamic Clinical Nurse Manager with experience in nursing leadership, vision, drive and a passion for quality health care. The Whakatāne Outpatient Department is a bustling, dynamic unit with 30 beds, located in the picturesque Eastern Bay of Plenty.
As the Clinical Nurse Manager for Outpatients in the Eastern Bay, you'll play a crucial role within our senior nursing team. Reporting to the Nurse Leader Eastern Bay of Plenty, you will provide strategic leadership, service development, and front-line management across outpatient departments in Whakatāne, Opotiki, and Kawerau. Your focus will be on ensuring safe, whānau-centered, effective, equitable, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Tikanga competent healthcare delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and support direct reports to deliver safe, effective healthcare with a focus on meeting the needs of Tangata Whaiora and their whānau.
- Champion equity, Māori health, and population health within nursing management practices.
- Actively partner with Te Pare o Toi, Iwi, and Māori communities to address cultural safety and equity challenges.
- Develop and implement departmental vision and priorities in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Lead recruitment and retention strategies to ensure a high-performing and diverse workforce.
- Monitor key performance indicators, identify variances, and initiate interventions for continuous improvement.
- Provide operational oversight to ensure appropriate resource allocation and staffing across outpatient departments.
- Maintain emergency management plans and ensure adherence to infection prevention and control standards.
**He Korero mōu - About You**
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
- Proven clinical nursing coordination or management experience.
- Engagement and collaboration experience with Iwi/Māori providers or communities.
- Sound knowledge of Māori models and frameworks of healthcare.
Desirable Skills:
- Expert level Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP) preferred.
- Competent knowledge and ability in Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori.
- Experience working in Māori health services or providers.
