**About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga**:
Curriculum Leads are based in the regions and provide frontline support to Te Kohanga Reo/early learning settings, Kura/schools, kaupapa Māori and Māori medium.
**PLEASE NOTE: This role is for those that have Māori medium and Kaupapa Māori experience, (experience in Te Kohanga Reo and Wharekura will be an advantage).**
As a Curriculum Lead, you will help teachers and kaiako to design and teach local curriculum and marau ā-kura that supports children and young people’s wellbeing. You will be part of a regional team working closely with schools, kura, early learning services and kōhanga reo to:
- Provide hands-on support to teachers and kaiako so they can deliver high-quality local curriculum and marau ā-kura with a focus on wellbeing.
- Work alongside parents, families, whānau and iwi to design a curriculum that reflects the aspirations of all ākonga and their whānau, is aligned to the national curriculum and reflects local needs.
- Work with curriculum resources, rauemi and guidelines such as Ka Hikitia, Te Hurihanganui, Tapasā and Te Ahu o Te Reo Māori, the Wellbeing and Mental Health Education Guidelines, refreshed Relationship and Sexuality Education Guidelines and Hauora (curriculum) and Social and Emotional Learning resources.
- Build collaborative networks within communities and actively share local practices.

**About you | Mōhou ake**:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following capabilities and competencies:
- Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships and partnerships to achieve shared outcomes.
- Extensive knowledge and experience (with a primary schooling focus) in teaching and learning, leadership, and curriculum and assessment theory and practice, with an ability to support professional change in education settings.
- Fluency with te ao Māori and understanding of Te Reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori is essential for Curriculum Leads working in kaupapa Māori and Māori medium settings.
- The ability to confidently use Māori bodies of knowledge and experience to inform and improve the design of curriculum, including the championing of Mana Ōrite mō te mātauranga Māori.
- Experiential knowledge and competencies in supporting curriculum design that has evidenced improved outcomes for diverse communities.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of education contexts at a practical level.
- Strong diplomacy, interpersonal and facilitation skills, with an ability to adapt to different interaction styles and contexts.
- Skills in leading and motivating others, and the ability to challenge, facilitate, supervise and coach kaiako and teachers to build capability, and where necessary, implement change.
- A full current driver licence as travel will required.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
**About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake**:
Te Mahau | Te Tai Whenua (Central) is a frontline group that collectively provides leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support and education advice, and regulation functions for kōhanga, schools, kura and early learning services.
As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level, including deep relationships with iwi and hapū.
We also collectively strengthen relationships with our diverse communities who support Māori, Pacific peoples, disabled ākonga and/or ākonga with learning support needs, and ākonga from disadvantaged backgrounds.
