Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL) is a busy
diagnostic facility providing services to in-patients and outpatients at
Canterbury DHB Hospitals within Christchurch. You - ll be working for the largest
medical laboratory in the South Island which is also a major secondary/tertiary
referral centre with a varied and challenging case load. We have a modern
and well-equipped lab including a good range of specialist equipment.
The Specialist Chemistry section of CHL has a
long-established expertise in development, analysis and clinical interpretation
of routine and specialised assays. Conducting testing in a wide range of
techniques including LC-MS/MS, ICPMS, HPLC, ELISA and electrophoresis.
We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist
or Medical Laboratory Technician with
a qualification in biochemistry but will consider applicants from other
specialties. Previous biochemistry experience would be an advantage,
however full training will be provided. You must be registered (or eligible for
registration) with the New Zealand Medical Laboratory Sciences Council and hold
a current Annual Practising Certificate.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated
team player with excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
In addition, you will possess effective time management skills and be able to
work independently.

This role will be responsible for supporting the
extensive research activity, which involves liaising with the research team or
labs to coordinate and set up research trials and separation of samples for
shipment. In addition, the MLS will support the registration section and
overseeing the research MLPAT/MLTs.

**In these roles, you will be responsible for**:

- Providing a high-quality service to clients
- Liaising with laboratory teams for the set up of research and

clinical trials
- Development and provision of dedicated request forms for clinical
trials
- Preparation of research samples for analysis
