**About the role**

The Senior Victim Advisor (SVA) will provide quality services to victims of aviation accidents and incidents by engaging effectively with them, assessing need and ensuring all appropriate resources and support are made available to them.

The SVA will act as the conduit for victim services within the Authority, assisting the victims and whanau of serious harm and fatal accidents, in accessing support, liaising with New Zealand Police, the Coroners Office and the Ministry of Justice and managing the Authority’s referral for support to other agencies.

The SVA will assist the Investigation and Response Unit Investigators providing support for interaction with victims throughout the investigation process, any subsequent judicial process and referral to the Coroner’s Office if applicable.

**What we’re looking for**

We are looking for an experienced victim advisor who has worked in a victim support or victiM/Family liaison role in a large organisation.

A sound understanding of the Victims Rights Act and the victim support and judicial environment, as well as an understanding of the regulatory environment of the NZ civil aviation system would be advantageous, along with the ability to plan, prioritise and organize work efficiently and effectively to deliver results.

The role will require someone who is familiar with policy and procedure drafting and someone who has the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with other external agencies and be able to build strong internal working relationships across the Authority. The person will be highly motivated, able to work independently, have excellent interpersonal skills and is a great problem solver.

As a result of remedial earthquake strengthening work that needs to take place, our National office staff are currently working remotely and in temporary offices in central Wellington.
