**Trainee / Phlebotomist - Christchurch**

We operate medical laboratories throughout the country. This is an ‘Earn while you learn’ opportunity; we have multiple roles available for Trainees to get on-the-job training and work towards a qualification through Ara Institute of Canterbury. You will provide excellent customer service and high-quality care through our 11 collection centres, home visits and collection for three private hospitals & numerous rest homes in the Canterbury region.

**About the Roles**:

- Various shifts from 20 - 24 hours per week; Monday to Friday: 9 am to 2 pm or 8 hour shifts on Monday, Tuesday and Fridays.
- The key tasks include pathology sample collection, responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e. human blood, faeces, urine, tissue and prepare specimens for transportation.
- Provide a professional customer service, serve as a link between health professionals, their patients and the laboratory.

**Previous Phlebotomy experience is **_not essential_** as long as you have**:

- A positive and friendly approach to your work and enjoy working with people of all ages and circumstances.
- Demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity with empathy toward a wide demographic of clients
- Compassion for others, including a real desire to provide high-quality care to a wide variety of patients of all ages and circumstances.
- Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation.
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately, even when under pressure.
- A reliable transport and full Driver’s license to varying shift times and in all collection centre locations.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet while keeping up in a fast passed environment.
- Possess the ability and commitment to learn, achieve the required qualifications, maintain professional development and strive toward continual quality improvement.
