Carpet Layer

Carpet Centre Limited was established in 2004 and has grown to now be an experienced, customer-centered and quality-focused company that puts customer needs first. We provide services such as layering carpet and cleaning carpet, we are now looking for THREE people to join our company as a carpet layer

This is a permanent full-time role with an immediate start date. You should ideally be a great team player, have a site safety mind, be physically fit, punctual, and hardworking.

**No prior work experience is required for this role but could be an advantage. Priority will be given to local NZ residents/citizens.**

**Duties**:

- Laying out carpet samples for customer selection.
- Responsible for removing and installing carpets in homes, offices and public buildings.
- Move furniture from area to be carpeted and remove old carpet and padding.
- Roll out, measure, mark, and cut carpeting to size with a carpet knife, following floor sketches and allowing extra carpet for final fitting.
- Cut and trim carpet to fit along wall edges, openings, and projections, finishing the edges with a wall trimmer.
- Join edges of carpet and seam edges where necessary, by sewing or by using tape with glue and heated carpet iron.
- Stretch carpet to align with walls and ensure a smooth surface, and press carpet in place over tack strips or use staples, tape, tacks or glue to hold carpet in place.
- Finishing edges with a wall trimmer and correcting imperfections.
- Clean up before and after installation, including vacuuming carpet and discarding remnant pieces.

Pay rate: minimum $27.76 / hour
- maximum $30.00 / hour

The location of work will be within the Auckland region

**Requirements for the job**:
No Prior Experience required but would be an advantage if you had similar experience
- Ability to work standing, kneeling, and crouching for extended periods.
- Detail-oriented.
- On-the-job-training will be provided
- Strong commitment to safe work practices.
- Be hard-working, reliable, and motivated.
- No criminal record.
