**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
We are an innovative, compassionate team who provide integrated psychosocial services to cancer patients and their families. The team works across many Te Toka Tumai specialities and in collaboration with the Northern Region Cancer Support Teams. We work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team, cancer NGO’s and initiative staff across the region and the country. The role is predominantly outpatient based.
The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential. A passion for fostering engagement with tangata whenua is a requirement of this role.
You will be provided with regular supervision and continuing professional development to enhance your capacity to engage in effective social work practice. You will receive routine and regular support from your Practice Supervisor, Clinical Leader, Professional Leader as well as the Regional Lead Cancer Support.
**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
**Required**:
- A recognized Social Work qualification with full registration with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board and a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Excellent psycho-social assessment and intervention skills
- Well-developed communication skills
- An understanding and competence in Tikanga Māori
- A full, clean class 1 driver’s license.
**Preferred**:
- Experience in Health Social Work
- Experience working with grief and loss
- Experience in MDT working
- Strong cultural knowledge and a capacity to work effectively alongside our diverse communities
- Experience in service development and managing projects aligned with improving patient services
