The National Library and Archives NZ have extensive audiovisual (AV) collections and holdings, providing a unique record of the activities of New Zealand individuals, whanau, iwi, organisations, and government departments throughout history.
We will be digitising these AV collections and holdings - c.115,000 items, under a mass-digitisation project called Utaina. We have an exciting opportunity for an Audiovisual Quality Control (QC) Technician to join the National Library and be part of the Utaina project.
As the Audiovisual Quality Control (QC) Technician, you are a key part of the team supporting the QC Supervisors and the Utaina project by:

- Conducting quality control checks to help ensure our AV items are digitised according to required standards and follow international best practice, while making sure we meet our weekly QC throughput targets.
- Liaising with QC Supervisors and relevant stakeholders about issues discovered during quality control process.
- Supporting and contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of QC manuals, tools, workflows, and processes to facilitate best practice management.

**To be successful in this role, you will need**:

- Hands-on professional experience either working with technical production or digital preservation of sound or video recordings, or in sound and video studios
- Familiarity with legacy audio or video formats, their technical characteristics, and potential faults
- Knowledge and understanding of safe handling techniques and digital preservation of AV materials
- Knowledge and understanding of digital and analogue sound recording techniques and formats
- Well-developed critical listening and viewing skills, with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to deal with repetitive tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Understanding of Tikanga Māori and Māori language an advantage
