Our Christchurch office is looking for a Lead Engineer that will focuses on strengthening our 3 water design capabilities and developing business opportunities. The role requires technical leadership, coaching and mentoring our people whilst offering innovative solutions for our internal, existing and new clients across the local government and private sectors.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Client Liaison - Develop credible business relationships with existing and potential clients to ensure required project outcomes are met and client satisfaction is maintained at a high standard
- Business Development - Develop new and repeat business, including preparation of proposals and bids for projects Design Management - Provide design management for a range of projects involving all three waters and multidisciplinary projects
- Mentoring and Coaching - Provide guidance to design engineers and project managers and be able to train and mentor them
- Technical Leadership - Provide technical input and leadership to projects with a focus on wastewater, water treatment and plans, plant design construction, large reticulation/pump stations. This includes review QA/QC of project deliverables.
- Knowledge - Keep knowledge and competencies current, guide staff and contribute to GHD Global Knowledge Base
- Quality Assurance - Deliver high quality reports, correspondence and other deliverables, with appropriate checks and reviews
- Technical Delivery - Investigate water, wastewater and stormwater options and feasibility assessments. Undertake designs and assist with construction monitoring and construction management

**What you will bring to the team**:

- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Tertiary qualified with minimum 15 years’ experience in a water/wastewater engineering role, focusing on mechanical engineering design
- Detailed design of mechanical systems, and coordination of systems into multi-discipline projects
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Competence in NZ Codes and Standards
- Modelling/CAD (Revit/Autocad) experience/knowledge, either hands-on or in a leadership/coordination role
- Ability to think laterally in delivering project solutions
- Design management experience, including management of budget and project resources
- An understanding of local government processes and practices
- Keen to make a real contribution to the growth of GHD’s business
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to liaise with clients successfully.
