**The Company**
This is an Industrial EPC Company who deliver engineering projects and provide service and product/project sales too.
The Company are well regarded and have plenty of large clients in NZ and overseas to keep the work coming in, so your job will have stability.
**Location**
If you live near Porirua this role could shorten your commute.
Free parking on-site is an added bonus.
**The Role**
You will be using SolidWorks most of a typical day, so modelling, drawing, and making B.O.M’s. with circa 500 drawings per job. The parts are mostly extruded aluminium or folded sheet metal, and you will be working on a range of industrial equipment to keep things interesting.
You will see your designs built in the in-house workshop and then go out the door to a customer site somewhere around the world. So, you will get the satisfaction of seeing a job from concept to completion.
Sometimes the job will be new and involve some design, but you won’t need to be doing complex calculations as the Company does have other engineers who can do these. You might go as far as bearing selection or shaft sizing etc.
At other times, the job will be fairly similar to equipment that has been designed and made before so you will be able to use existing drawings as a base to work from and modify to fit a particular job and client site.
**CAD**: You will mainly use SolidWorks (3D) plus some AutoCAD (2D).
The Company are open to training someone to use Solidworks who has existing 3D CAD experience (e.g. Inventor).
**Your Colleagues**: You will join 6 other Mechanical Designers and work collaboratively with other engineers, the workshop, sales, and purchasing. So, you will get to know a wide range of people here.
**Location and Hours**
This is an on-site Monday to Friday role, with hours of 8 am to 4:30 pm (not WFH).
**Social Activities**
If you are game, on a Friday people may head off to a local eatery for lunch.
There is also a social club that organise a wide range of activities every 2 to 3 months.
Like what? Axe throwing, a day trip to Kapiti Island, bowls, golf, comedy nights, dinners out, going to shows etc.
