The Postdoctoral Fellow will be based at the AL Rae Centre for Genetics and Breeding in Hamilton.
A PhD in genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, or closely related discipline is essential. To be successful in this role you will have experience in bioinformatic analysis using command-line tools - ideally including mapping and variant calling of whole genome or other types of sequence data.
You will also need experience in the majority of the following areas:
- Writing scripts and programming language(s)
- File processing, manipulation, and filtering of high-throughput genotype data
- Statistical genetics approaches such as genome-wide association studies, heritability estimation, genomic prediction etc.
- Collating results and generating text, figures, and tables to a standard suitable for publication
- An understanding of molecular genetics approaches and mammalian physiology
