The role is as exciting and varied as it is challenging; when you join the Isle of Wight NHS Trust Ambulance Service (IoWAS), you’ll work with a host of public and voluntary services; Police and Fire & Rescue Service and volunteers from organisations such as British Red Cross, St John Ambulance, RNLI, IoW Search and Rescue and HM Coastguard.

Applicants must have the knowledge to provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care to patients in a pre-hospital environment. The Isle of Wight by its nature and geographical location provides a unique set of clinical challenges to practice in an autonomous way utilising your skills and knowledges as well as having the opportunity to develop new clinical skills.

You’ll have the chance to enhance your skills and knowledge in areas such as intubation, pre hospital sepsis treatment using antibiotics, thrombolysis. It is likely your daily activity will involve working in a multi-disciplinary setting in terms of undertaking critical transfers via hover craft, car ferry and other cross Solent options looking after your patients for an extended period of time.

guidelines and processes, an extended UK driver training programme and financial
support towards your first three months accommodation in the UK. Lastly, we'll
support you with your ongoing pastoral care, to ensure you settle into UK life.

**Job Purpose**

**The Job Role**
- To respond using advanced emergency driving skills and manage emergency calls / incidents as allocated by the Emergency Operation Centre, including emergencies, urgent calls, routine transfers, mainland transfers and other operational details commensurate with the role and responsibilities.
- Formulation and delivery of critical care plans and treatment for patients in accordance with agreed guidelines, Trust / Service Policy, Procedures and current legislation, Health & Care Professions Council including Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee (JRCALC), College of Paramedics (CoP) and National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) as appropriate.
- Demonstrate a continued commitment to professional development.
- Lifting, carrying and moving of patients and / or equipment
- Use of the appropriate knowledge and skills in order to make professional judgements, whilst autonomously conducting the appropriate diagnostic procedures and treatments, safely to the appropriate level of training and competency.
- Provide appropriate clinical care and treatment within the level of own training and competency, including clinical interventions and invasive techniques such as required.
- Continue to undertake duty of care to patient, ensuring an appropriate level of monitoring and treatment is maintained throughout the journey and after arrival at destination, until such time as a transfer of duty of care can be made in verbal or written / electronic form to an appropriate person.
- To provide an operational response to all emergency calls without delay, all urgent calls requested by a healthcare professional, all patient transfer journeys and any other planned journey requests by Dispatch.
- Manage patients, relatives and the general public in a calm, caring and professional manner, treating them with dignity and respect at all times, often in difficult or hostile circumstances.
- To provide pre-hospital patient care and emergency driving duties within the scope of a Registered Paramedic to ensure the delivery of clinical excellence in the field.
- To maintain absolute professionalism, integrity and confidentiality for all patients, their families, Trust staff and those from other agencies.
