This is an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to work alongside experienced senior clinicians and the multi-disciplinary team within the Diabetes service. You will provide care and support for people predominately with Type 1 diabetes, but also those with complex Type 2 Diabetes.

Thames Hospital is part of Te Whatu Ora - Waikato, and is set against the hills on the Coromandel Peninsula in Aotearoa, New Zealand's North Island. We are a fully modernised rural and secondary hospital services, providing healthcare for a catchment population of 45,000. This population swells significantly over the summer holidays as the wider country makes their way to their favourite vacation destinations across the Coromandel.

Our hospital provides a 15 bed consultant-led emergency department seeing 18,000 patients per year which is supported by 24/7 laboratory and radiology services, including CT. The inpatient unit has 48 beds split between general medicine, low acuity surgery and rehabilitation. We maintain a busy day surgery service and outpatient clinic with our both own consultants providing treatment in addition to specialist consultants who visit daily during the week and provide a range of specialist services.

Our region boasts some of the country's most spectacular surf and swimming beaches and is a haven for mountain bikers, divers, fishers, hikers and outdoors enthusiasts. Thames is less than two hours' drive to the major centres of Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua and their major airports. The hospital also has a 24/7 access staff on-site gym that enables you to meet all of your fitness goals no matter the time of year.
