We are currently on the hunt for a Fluvial Geomorphologist that is looking at taking the next step in their career and who is keen to join our team and be part of our exciting journey.

You will enjoy the professional freedom and independence of running your own projects under the guidance of and with the support of some of the best fluvial geomorphologists, ecologists and water resource engineers in the country. At Tonkin + Taylor you'll be working on exciting and challenging projects right from the start with the opportunity to contribute to great outcomes for our rivers, work directly with clients and start to manage your own projects and work programme. The sort of work you can expect to be involved in or to manage are:

- Fluvial geomorphic related field assessments including qualitative river assessments (river evolution), geomorphic mapping, geomorphic condition assessments, erosion assessments, bank condition/stratigraphy assessments, sediment characteristics/monitoring, morphological characteristics monitoring, and geology/soil assessments.
- Assessments of geomorphic effects to support a wide variety of project types.
- Science innovation for improved resource management, e.g. inputs into guidelines and policy surrounding multiple aspects of river management.
- Prepare/scope proposals in conjunction with other senior staff or independently
- Manage key internal and external client relationships to maintain and further develop T+T's reputation in fluvial geomorphology in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific

**Na tōu rourou | What you'll bring**
- MSc degree in physical geography or Environmental Science with a focus on fluvial geomorphology,
- 3+ years professional work experience in a consulting environment
- A good understanding, knowledge and experience in applied fluvial geomorphology, including a knowledge of landscape/river evolution, stream restoration projects, erosion/sedimentation assessments, mitigation/restoration options development, and working with natural channel design principles
- Strong technical writing skills to complete a wide variety of fluvial geomorphic reports, or input into wider technical reports;
- Knowledge of the multi-disciplinary linkages of ecological sciences, and water resource engineering and a willingness to collaborate as part of a wider team
- Experience in sediment budgeting and/or sediment transport modelling for fluvial studies would be looked on favourably, but isn't essential for the role.
