Our client rich in NZ’s milling history is based in the central north island and has two operation sites that manufacture wood pulp products and sawn timber. The wood processing operations product a range of timber and pulp products derived from renewable plantations of Radiata pine for both the domestic and export markets. The Sawmill Managers position talks directly to the timber product which is primarily used in the domestic construction market and horticulture industries for fruit packaging.
This high-volume production site has recently undergone significant engineering upgrades propelling productions levels to new heights and we are now seeking a Sawmill Manager to lead the entire sawmilling operation. Continuing to develop technical advancements and commercial strategies into the next phase of growth.
The Opportunity:
As an experienced leader holding a strong background within the timber manufacturing industries you will be responsible for the overall operational management within the Sawmill, taking ownership of overall performance and site achievements. This includes, but is not limited to; sawmill output and uptime, financial control, health and safety, site culture & engagement, direct report goal setting and performance management.
Along with your direct leadership team comprising of a Greenmill Manager, Maintenance Manager, Processing Compliance Manager, and your Administration team, you are required to implement, develop and maintain processes that maximise business operations while optimising the most efficient and effective use of employees, contractors and resources.
About You:
Along with your proven capabilities in Sawmill Management, you bring with you in your tool box a seasoned commercial understanding of the industry and the ability to provide board level business intelligence and recommendations.
- You are able to develop, implement and deliver detailed, short to midterm plans to achieve tactual objectives which meet the wider company objectives, strategies and projected actions.
- You understand and can appropriately implement all regulatory compliance along with a strong leadership in risk management, incident management and a robust understanding & leadership within site Health & Safety Management.
- You are a role model for collaborative working, motivated, constructive, accountable and thrive in a challenging environment. You walk the talk.
- You will be tertiary, or trade qualified within a relevant field.
- You are financially and commercially astute at a senior leadership & strategy implementation level.

**Salary**: $200,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
