**About the role**
The Kaiarataki Ako will lead, implement, manage and monitor programme delivery in the takiwā. You will need to provide effective leadership and management to a team of Kaiwhakahaere Ako (Manager - Educational Delivery), spread across Gisborne, Ōpōtiki, Kawerau and Whakatāne so some travel is required.
You will be responsible for the implementation of, and compliance with quality management systems that support the achievement of Education Performance Indicators. This role maintains oversight of academic processes and procedures, and educational performance and achievement within the sites of responsibility.
**About you**
This position can be based in Gisborne or Ōpōtiki. The ideal person will be a high performing leader who is confident in their decision making and navigating the ER (Employment Relations) space, and is able to lift the capabilities of the managers that report to you. You will need to have a good understanding of the tertiary sector, programme cycles for the academic year, and the future proofing of programme delivery within the sites of responsibility.
You will ideally be someone who has some interest in or is already in the community, understands the needs of the community and the opportunities we have to respond to these, you may even be someone who has recently returned home.
Ideally you will have:
- A Masters’ qualification in Education, Educational Leadership or relevant field however, a minimum of a Post Graduate qualification in Education & research active will be considered;
- High level experience in a senior leadership & management role
- At least 5 years’ management experience; and
- At least 5 years’ teaching experience
- Able to understand and converse in te reo Māori
- Prepared to support kaimahi to increase knowledge, understanding and everyday use of te reo and āhuatanga Māori
- Provide guidance and leadership for Te Wānanga o Aotearoa values
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
