**Learn to Swim Instructor | West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre**

Here at Auckland Council, our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal of making Auckland the most active city in the world. And right now, we’re looking for Learn to Swim Instructors to join our Pool and Leisure Centre team at West Wave to help achieve that goal

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

- Teaching people the basic principles of how to swim (we'll teach you how to do this)
- Maintaining a fun, caring and safe environment for customers and visitors
- Being part of an amazing team serving your local community

We have four permanent part-time varies from 8 hours to 16 hours available at our centre. You will need to be available after school hours, weekdays, and weekends.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

You will be a great swimmer and instructor, have a love of water, have exceptional customer service skills, and be able to communicate well with members of the public.

Previous experience working with children would be beneficial.

If you do have a recognised swim teacher qualification or previous experience as a Swimming Instructor, that’d be fantastic. However, we will provide full, comprehensive training that you need to excel in the job.

To be considered for this role, you must also be willing to complete First Aid training.
- Swim 20 metres freestyle
- 20 metres backstroke
- Tread water for 3 minutes

**Pay rate: $26 per hour**
- Auckland Council is committed to the protection and well-being of children. This role is classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and is deemed a safety-sensitive position.
