The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is one of Wellington’s most well-known Hotels. We are part of the Grand Hotels International group with hotels located throughout New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is a versatile Conference and Events venue for a wide range of events. We have 8 Conference rooms in a variety of sizes, with the largest seating up to 240 guests theatre style and 200 guests banquet style.

As an integral member of the food and beverage supervisory team, quality service and high standards are very important to ensure we meet and exceed customer expectations. This is a hands on physical role which involves the setting up of Conference rooms with the lifting and moving of heavy objects, such as tables, chairs and other furniture. This role requires a team player with an abundance of energy and passion.
- Have at least one years' experience as a Food & Beverage Supervisor
- A Hospitality degree or diploma
- Flair & passion for the food and beverage industry with excellent food and beverage product knowledge
- Be enthusiastic about delivering great customer service
- Ability to lead, develop and motivate a team
- Ability to multi task and think on their feet in a busy environment
- A positive and proactive attitude
- Excellent communication skills

**The position will include, but not limited to**:

- In conjunction with the Conference Operations Manager to ensure every Conference & Event is well planned and all necessary requirements and resources are pre-arranged and checked.
- Establish and maintain a rapport with all clients, anticipating their needs and fulfilling their requests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ensure that immediate action is taken in relation to problem solving.
- To maintain and uphold “Host Responsibility” associated with alcohol consumption and the laws pertaining to such. Be familiar with the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor Host Responsibility Policy.
- Monitor the quality of service and food presentation provided to all guests and action any aspect that needs to be improved.
- Thoroughly check the set up and operation of all apparatus and equipment and ensure the correct storage of each piece of equipment following all functions.
- Take responsibility for the service, operation and breakdown of all Conference & Events in accordance with the daily function sheet arrangements and any additional guest requests.
- Maintain stock levels of all operational supplies and equipment in accordance with specific tasks and levels of business.
- Ensure monthly stocktakes are carried out accurately and on time when requested by the Conference Operations Manager.
