This is a permanent casual role where you will be reporting to our Farms Manager. Duties will predominantly include milking either morning or afternoon milkings (or both). Other work can be available to work in with hours that suit both parties.We are looking for multiple people to make up a team of casual employees to keep our two milking sheds pumping this spring We can offer flexible hours/days to suit these roles within our milking roster.Cups on time is 5am at both our herringbone and rotary sheds, morning milking will be finished around 7.30am.
Cups on in the afternoon is 2.00pm and finish up between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.Key focuses of the role:
- Milk harvesting in an efficient and quiet manner
- Assist farm management with animal health and welfare requirements
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of stock and animal health treatments
- Complying with the requirements of the Health & Safety in Employment Act
- You will assist the farm team to keep the milking shed maintained to a high standard and ensure that we supply premium quality milk every day**What you’ll bring to the role**

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:
- Milking experience is not essential but is beneficial
- Positive and can-do attitude is a must
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- This is a drive-in position so a driver’s license and own vehicle to get to/from the farm is a must.

**About the Farms**

Based in Longburn, only 5 minute’s drive to Palmerston North, Thornton Park Farm is a predominantly flat farm of 200ha milking platform and an 80ha support block that boundaries onto the Manawatu River. We have recently transitioned to an all-spring calving herd of 600 A2 cows. Thornton Park Farm is one of two Fonterra dairy farms in Longburn. The other farm is Innesmoor Farm where we currently milk a 250 autumn A2 herd through a 32-a-side herringbone shed. The farm itself is a 130-ha flat farm with a covered feed pad.The wider Longburn Farms team is made up of 10 part-time and full-time employees carrying out various roles across the group of farms which include support blocks.
