Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Join us as we transform the future of health as Director HR - Commissioning, Pacific Health and Enabling Functions. A key member of the People and Culture (P&C) Senior Leadership Team, this role supports the new national business groups of Commissioning, Pacific Health and Enabling Functions (Finance, Data and Digital and P&C).
This role will provide key strategic advice to these business groups and their leaders who rely on P&C for the processes and enabling systems that allow them to successfully carry out their people management and leadership responsibilities.
This role will be joining the team at a key time of change, as we transition to a single, unified national business group. You will contribute to implementing a national approach to help support our Kaimahi to thrive. Your face-to-face support for our leaders, building trust and collaboration at all levels will be especially important through this transitional period. The focus of this role will be on building knowledge, confidence, and experience for our leaders to effectively handle the range of people matters they will face.
The P&C team's role is integral to the organisation's mission to deliver the highest standard of healthcare to all New Zealanders, by ensuring all our Kaimahi have the opportunity to come to work every day, be safe, able to perform at their best and have the opportunity to develop to their full potential.
Mōu | About you
You will be an experienced HR leader, who has been operating at an executive level within large, public facing, multi-faceted environments. You will bring the tools needed to successfully lead large diverse teams through change with you, achieving improved results while navigating a highly nuanced and complex system.
You have experience working in complex HR settings, leading transformation, and optimization and you have had exposure to working in an agile environment, driving large scale innovation and digital transformation.
Most importantly, you will have a genuine passion for improving the health system for the benefit of everyone in Aotearoa. You know this passion will be key in supporting and growing people leaders and your team of HR professionals through this time of transformational change across the entire organisation.

- Experience operating in a confidential/secure environment with access to sensitive information
- Proven experience in successfully developing and maintaining a structured approach to managing a wide range of stakeholder and professional relationships, both internally and externally
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn and grow
