Health Care Assistant

We are recruiting 2 Healthcare Assistants to join the Gold Pond Private Hospital Team. The purpose of this role is to deliver quality care to the residents of the facility, in accordance with relevant care standards and practices, duty schedules and with an attitude of cooperation and helpfulness. Immediate Start.
**Your major responsibilities will include**:
- To comply with relevant policies and house rules; to support and uphold mission statements and philosophies at all times.
- To safely, efficiently and effectively deliver care by prioritizing attendance to Residents’ needs and delivering the best care possible according to duty schedules and nursing manual, ensuring that all routine cares are delivered as per residents’ care plans, including showering, dressing, mobilizing, grooming, nutritional assistance.
- As required, the HCA might have to do laundry and helpfully perform cleaning and kitchen duties and maintain good infection control principles.
- Observe privacy, dignity, comfort and confidentiality of residents and keep confidential all facility’s business.
- To be an effective team worker with consideration for other employees. Keep records of reports current and informative, be flexible, show initiative, be tolerant and understanding when duties are busy, be readily adaptable to change.
- To be a good communicator with Residents and staff, observe and report any changes in the resident’s condition.
- Follow sound basic hygiene and infection control principles, particularly in relation to hand washing.
- Develop professionally, including attending annual education and training sessions as per our schedule and legislative requirements, one of which must be Fire and Health and Safety.
- Perform other duties as may be reasonably required to maximise the Resident’s safety and sense of wellbeing.
- Adhere to Health and Safety policies.
- Assist with meal serving following sound infection control principles, assist residents in need, observe residents’ intake and report discrepancies.
**Requirements**:
- Previous experience in care of the elderly, IHC and/or psychiatric residents for at least 3 to 6 months.
- Must demonstrate appropriate skills, knowledge, experience, and show the aptitude to learn through orientation and trainings.
- Strong commitment to helping Residents in a continuing care environment.
- Physical fitness and a commitment to maintain this.
- A caring considerate attitude and responsiveness to the care of the elderly.
- Ability to adapt to change and to work efficiently under pressure.
- Good organization and prioritizing skills.
- Honesty, integrity, conscientiousness, and industriousness.
- Good communication skills.
- Good understanding, able to follow instructions.
- Awareness of ways to optimize the independence of residents.
- Understanding of Residents’ rights, advocacy and privacy.
