At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 108 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.
Our vision for He Whānau Manaaki o Tararua is derived from our belief in the importance of quality early childhood education for the children themselves, their whānau, their community and for Aotearoa New Zealand. Therefore, we seek to be a leader in the provision of high-quality early childhood education, and by demonstrating what can be achieved, be seen as advocates for children and whānau and help to improve quality early childhood education throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
Out of this vision comes Ngā Uara - Our Values:
- Nurturing the mana of the child
- Kounga - Quality
- Mahi Tahi - Partnership
- Pono - Integrity
More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki’s 108 kindergartens and around 150 children are enrolled with our Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.
**Community Description**
Kahurangi kindergarten is located in Solway, Masterton. The team are committed to providing a bicultural curriculum where we work in partnership with whānau to promote whanaungatanga - a sense of connection through shared experiences. We practice kaitiakitanga, promoting respect for the natural environment and the values of care and protection.
This is visible in our extensive and beautiful garden and our commitment to garden to table. Kahurangi is responsive to diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for all to learn in a supportive whānau based environment.
We are a full-year kindergarten, licensed for 45 children who attend between the hours of 8am-4pm; 8.30am-3.30pm; 9am-3pm. This includes 5 children under 2 years of age. You will join our team alongside 7 other teachers.
We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who:
- is a reflective practitioner with sound knowledge of current pedagogy and practice who can work very effectively in collaborative ways
- has a strong knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working in a way that acknowledges the dual heritage of Aotearoa
- has an ability to work with parents as partners in their children’s education
- engages in effective communication in a large team and is committed to their professional growth
- has a passion for working with children 0 - 5 years of age within a whānau-based approach.
