Asphalt Supervisor

**Te** **kōwhiringa | The Opportunity**

As Supervisor, you’ll be key to establishing a strong team to complete reconstruction and resurfacing works across a range of roading and residential projects. This role will mostly be involved in the planning and organising of crew and all their resources, so that work can be completed safely and at the highest quality.

Other responsibilities include:

- Arrange, direct and monitor activities of crews and subcontractors to ensure that their work meets project objectives and is completed to customer satisfaction
- Maintain strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders
- Ensure efficient use of resource and target results are met
- Assist in the selection, coaching and development of staff

Based in New Plymouth, this role will primarily support Asphalt Paving works in the Taranaki region however travel across country may be required when other Surfacing teams require assistance.

**Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills**

This role will be ‘hands on’ where you will be providing training and development to the crews under your supervision, so you will need to have a proven track record of leadership. You’ll also have:

- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Ability to deal with unexpected events and provide direction
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- A Class 2 drivers licence with a WTR endorsement
- Knowledge of the laying and compaction of bituminous materials
- Knowledge of paving plant operation and asphalt mix designs
- Able to undertake site measurement and accurately order materials with mínimal wastage
- Ability to travel across geographical regions as needed
